What is shock wave therapy about?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Shock waves are waves possessing energy and propagating through a medium (solid, liquid or gas). When a flow moves faster than the \u201cinformation\u201d prior to its arrival \u2013 the medium cannot get out of the way. Thus the arriving energy causes a sudden, almost instantaneous change in the medium has been crossed, which can be a change in pressure, temperature or even density.<\/p>\n

What are the risks of the treatment?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

According to medical literature there is no known risk<\/strong> of low energy shock wave therapy of the penis.
\nIn the framework of an international research nor side effects, nor damage were reported.
\nAlthough haven\u2019t happened yet, occurrence of mild, transitory complications i.e. local swelling or redness, minor subcutaneous bruises, temporal tingle or numbness is theoretically conceivable. The result of the treatment is a persistent one.<\/p>\n

How often is the treatment necessary?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A 9-week therapy recommended. Two treatment sessions per week for 3 weeks, <\/strong>then a 3-week long interval, then two treating sessions per week for 3 weeks again, which means 12 sessions,<\/strong> and 18.000 shock waves in total.<\/p>\n

The time span of an intervention is approx. 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

What happens during the treatment?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Gel should be applied to the skin of the penis, which \u2013 similar to the ultrasound gel \u2013 causes cold sensation. Treating physician touch the applicator on the skin of the penis then starts the shock wave therapy. 5 regions are treated during one session, which means 1500 shock waves in total. There is no need for waiting or resting after the treatment.<\/p>\n

Whom the treatment is not recommended to?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As stated above the therapy should be preceded by specialist\u2019s detailed examination.\u00a0However the procedure is not recommended in the following cases:<\/p>\n

  • directly after prostate surgery<\/li>\n
  • if the cause of the erectile dysfunction are Pyrenie syndrome or spinal cord injury<\/li>\n
  • in case of a hematopoietic disease<\/li>\n
  • in severe heart disease<\/li>\n
  • in case of a pelvic tumor or after that within 5 years<\/li>\n
