In addition to the antibody rapid test, the detection of coronavirus SARS-CoV2 by PCR was also started in our hospital.
CORONAVIRUS RAPID TEST – Antibody test
Kelen Hospital is performing RAPID test by detecting antibodies to the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) from blood using serological tests. Those who are currently asymptomatic but want to know if they have previously had coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are welcome for these tests. If an antibody is found – a positive result – according to the procedure, a sample of pharynx and nasal secretions is taken and sent to an accredited microbiological laboratory, where a PCR test is performed to detect the presence of the virus. If a virus is found in this sample, the authority will order a quarantine or, if severe symptoms develop in the meantime, arrange for hospitalization.
What is a coronavirus rapid test?
The coronavirus rapid test is an antibody test taken from blood taken after the fingertip has been pricked.
This means that it does not detect the virus itself, but the two antibodies (IgM and IgG) produced by the immune system in response to the virus entering the body.
IgM is produced in the early stages of infection and indicates an existing or recent infection, while IgG is produced somewhat later, around day 7 of infection, and remains in the body for a long time.
Why is it good to be involved in the testing?
After performing the coronavirus test, approx. After 20 minutes, based on your medical history (which is included in the application form) and the results of the test, we can tell you if you have had the disease in the past, or if your disease is still asymptomatic, or we can determine if you your body has not yet produced a detectable amount of antibodies to the virus
It is important to note that in the early stages of the infection, the body may not yet produce a detectable amount of antibody, so in some cases the test may need to be repeated after 2 weeks. There is currently no test method that can be used to state with 100% certainty that you are not infected.
How Should We Interpret Rapid Test Results?
Test result | Interpretation |
– IgM and – IgG |
If both values are negative, several cases can occur: ● the infection is not present in your body ● the infection is present in your body, but the infection still in the incubation period, when the body is not yet producing antibodies, symptoms may develop later, but it can also go through the disease asymptomatically in this case you are contagious ● the disease is in the early stages of the incubation period, when no detectable amount of antibody has been produced in your body in this case you are contagious |
+ IgM and – IgG | The infection is present in your body
Before performing the test, you could have become infected approx. in 2-3 weeks’ time in this case you are contagious |
+ IgM and + IgG | The infection is present in your body but is already healing
Before performing the test, you may have become infected approx. a month earlier – in this case you are contagious |
– IgM and + IgG | The infection is not present in your body, you have gone through the infection
You may have become infected for more than a month before taking the test – in this case, you can no longer infect others |
* (An additional case may occur if the control strip on the test does not appear. This means that some error occurred during the test. In this case, the test will be repeated on site, in this case, repeating the test is free of charge)

Who should NOT apply for testing?
If you have typical symptoms of coronavirus (fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, tiredness), please contact your general practitioner by phone.
In our hospital, we only test asymptomatic people, and to ensure this, we perform body temperature measurements at the entrance. If it turns out on the spot that you have a elevated body temperature or fever, we are unfortunately not allowed to perform the test.
Steps of the screening, what you need to pay attention to?
Our security guard meets you at the entrance and checks if you have arrived at the right time slot You are given protective gear, sanitizer to disinfect your hands, and your temperature is taken. You are only allowed to enter the reception area in protective gear on condition your body temperature proved normal
If you have been booked for the examination by phone, you have the possibility to pay the test fee at the reception before the start of the examination, only with a credit card or health insurance card. If you have booked an appointment via the appointment link, in this case you have already paid the fee via Simple Pay, so you have nothing to do with the payment.
We do not accept cash!
We check your personal data at the reception desk, then our coordinator will accompany you to the examination room, where you can get seated after washing your hands.
After alcohol-based disinfection of your hands, you will be pricked on one finger. The first drop of blood will be wiped off, and the second one will be dropped into the testing device by means of a pipette. After having the spot of the prick bandaged, you may leave the examination room. You may take a seat in the waiting room while still keeping all protective gear on you. Please keep a minimum distance of 1,5 meters from any other people in the waiting room. The coordinator will walk you to the reception desk in about 20 minutes, where you receive your test results. If you tested negative for coronavirus, you may leave.
The test is done by pricking the fingertip so you can eat and drink before the test.
Please arrive for the test no more than 5 minutes before the specified time, unaccompanied!
Please do not bring a bag with you.
If you tested positive for coronavirus, however, this fact, along with your personal data, must be reported to the competent Disease Control Agency. That done, our coordinator will inform you both orally and in writing of the effective procedure to follow
